Shipping a personal vehicle internationally can cost from $1,000 – $5,000 for standard ocean transport or $5000 – $40,000 for air transport. While the final cost of shipping a car overseas is based upon many factors, a few key considerations include:
Type of vehicle. Larger vehicles may cost more to ship, and heavy haul vehicles (trucks, equipment, etc.) are quite different from shipping personal cars, vans and SUVs.
Length of time. Depending upon the final destination, you can plan on allowing 3-12 weeks to ship a vehicle overseas. While expedited shipping is available it will increase the cost.
Destination. The distance of the destination from the point of origin, as well as the popularity of the route will affect shipping costs. Shipping over longer distances will cost more, and some locations may require multiple “legs” to get the vehicle to the final destination.
Door to door vs. pickup at port. If you can drop off and/or pickup your vehicle at the port of origination and/or destination you will save on cost. Door to door shipping requires multiple modes of transportation (ship, truck), so requires more logistics and increases the overall cost.
